KPop!! I know this is a bit off-topic to my blog (I mainly write about Japanese Cosplay) but the thing is, I was the judge on the event's KPop Cosplay competition so I had to write something about it.

Well, judging a cosplay competition is one of my biggest cosplay dreams and the organizers of the KGathering made it happen! I was contacted by one of the organizers, asking me to judge the KPop/Korean cosplay competition and I gladly obliged. It was a small contest but I was still very happy that they chose me to pick the winner.

Anyway, the KGathering was organized by a group of KPop lovers namely KMonerx (I hope I got the name right). The party happened on April 22, 2013 at the GRAND ASTORIA HOTEL Crystal Ballroom. Together with my friends, Reg and Gail, we joined in the fun of loving Korean Pop Music and the Korean Pop Superstars! Each of us belonged to a fandom. I am (or belong to) VIP (of BIGBANG).

Anyway, I wore a Hanbok that day. It is the traditional costume in South Korea. My mom bought the set for me when she was in Cagayan de Oro. Wearing the costume made me feel like I was a part of a Korean Joseon drama. LOL.

I watched a lot of videos about Korean culture, the Hanbok, and proper hair and makeup suitable for my look.
My girlfriends were stylish that day. :)

Thank you Sheed for showing up even just for a few minutes. :)
Anyway, here are the photos taken during the party.

With my friends Gail and Reg. More like sisters!

Met new friends during the event!

With Atheena and Amber.
With our table mates. I forgot her name. D: I have a poor memory.
With KMONERX, the organizers.
And friends from the neighboring table. :D

Reg joined an eating contest since she said she will join any contest that involves food.

Well, she did not win. According to her, the ramen was too spicy!

But she did win that Q&A KPOP and the 'pass-the-card-using-your-mouth' contest. with Gail. :)

Reg is the ultimate KPOP Brainiac!
Prizes from the card game. Good job, girls!

There were also dance numbers and KPop dance covers. ^_^

While watching them dance, tried eating the korean cup noodles. :D
It was really really spicy!
We looked like we were endorsing the noodles. :D

Then FINALLY! The KPop cosplay competition!! I was not able to take photos of each of them. D:

I was the only judge during the contest so the pressure is all on me.

The contest went smoothly and after their short performances, I was able to pick the three winners. :)

The 2nd and 1st runners up

Then I was the one who announced the winner. They let me say a few things about what is cosplaying.

And the winner of KPOP Gathering's First KPop Cosplay competition is Atheena for her awesome performance and costume!

Photos with the cosplayers. Everybody did their best!

Photos with some contestants. ^_ ^

Photos with other party-goers. :)
With Fads!! Another cosplayer.

I was given another cup of Korean noodles. :D

Thank you, KMONERX for organizing a wonderful event! Can't wait for the next party!! How about combining KPOP and JPOP? :)

Being a cosplay props maker...

I admit I am still a noob when it comes to props making but this never really stopped me in doing it.

I have been busy this week, mainly because I was working on a new cosplay project and I am pretty much bored at home.

So I made a few accessories/props for my future cosplays. A lot o the materials were found at home, some of them were bought from craft shops locally.

This is a post with a lot of pictures. All of them were taken from my Instagram account, viewed using Webstagram.

Let's start with the package that arrived from Manila.

A package with my costume inside. What cosplay costume? Find out!

So the costume in the package above led me to complete the entire cosplay. My mom bought the raw materials and yours truly started doing the props.

Details to be added to my props and accessories.

I needed a red umbrella with horns for the character's prop. This tiger umbrella was the closes thing available in the city.
I added minor details to it to make it look accurate.

The character that I am going to cosplay wore a hat with white roses. So I put those flowers together using notebook wires then I added them to the hat.

So that's it! I can officially say that this secret cosplan is complete. But I think it's pretty obvious who is this character. ^_^

And then I made a few accessories for my future cosplays and costrips These accessories are pretty obvious because they are like the trademark of the characters.

Top, left: First Princess Bubblegum of Adventure Time tiara. It was wobbly and after my  first shoot wearing it, it died.
Top, right: Second tiara, now with cardboard, more durable than the first.
Bottom: Lacus Clyne's hairclip.

Well yeah, I still don't have any target dates or event for these cosplays, (heck yeah, we don't even have regular conventions here in our place) but I will do them before th year ends... I hope my mome will be extra supportive this time. (I just graduated, so I won't be receiving any allowance anymore, *sob)

Well, that's it! I have been productive this week (in cosplaying, yes) and I am pretty much happy about it. ^_^

Recent Videos by the HaruSuika Group

We've been busy this past few weeks and here are the reasons WHY.

My friends and I organized a series of photo/video shoots for this summer and every one of them are successful! We've met other cosplayers and enthusiasts during each shoot and had fun most of the time! I can't wait to see the other videos soon!

Here is a video of our first summer shoot: One Piece
For the photoset, click here.

And videos from our Maids and Butlers Shoot. :)
Final photo set to be posted soon! :)

GWIYOMI (Maids and Butlers edition)

MAIDS and BUTLERS (Backstage)

Oh yeah, and we went back to Oshi's and gave them a token of our appreciation: our group photo. :)
If you are going to pass by there, eat and enjoy their food, take a loot at the counter.. You'll find a framed photo of the Maids and Butlers of Zamboanga.

Thank you for reading!
